When you look at the album’s cover it really does make you feel that what you’re about to listen to is going to be the most gritty, dirty and relatively ambiguous shit ever while you are trying to decipher the fucked mix of different artworks by Russell Mills that is the album’s cover itself.

However, its party rockers in the house, as the songs are, indiscriminately, pretty fucking funky, like the type of funk that you would hear in a house party scene from a coming of age movie starring edgy teenagers, as the album itself was written back when Trent Reznor (the guy who is NIN) was reminiscing of the not-so-good old days when he first wrote The Downward Spiral and Pretty Hate Machine. I guess that why its even called ’’Hesitation Marks’’ as its a term that usually describes superficial deep cuts to one’s body after they decide to not kill themselves, which may corelate to how Reznor felt during those times as he struggled with mental health issues and drug addiction.

The songs can range from more chill, laid-back tones that will put you in the mood (but what mood, I don’t know) to violent instruments clashing each other so hard you’ll think that they’re hate fucking each other while Dent Treznor screams shit about fuck and occasionally yelling in the background.

Its very fun to listen to and that’s why I give it a 8.267/10
